‘Big’ Joe Egan, as he is affectionately known, is Ireland’s most colourful boxing heavyweight, boasting an illustrious career which includes going the distance with Lennox Lewis.

The graduate of Trinity College Dublin fought 11 times wearing the green vest of Ireland before moving to America to become part of Mike Tyson’s training camp. Big Joe and Mike became close friends with Tyson describing him as, “The toughest white man on the planet.”

Nowadays Joe's time is spread primarily between his charity work in Birmingham and his various acting roles. Joe's acting career has gone from strength to strength in recent years. In high demand, Joe has been cast in various roles including a role in Hollywood Blockbuster Sherlock Holmes, directed by Guy Ritchie, as well as the sequel to the popular action mystery, the much anticipated, Sherlock Holmes 2; which hits cinemas later this year. Joe's other acting credits include appearances in 'Dead Man Running' and 'Dead Cert', to name but a few. Joe has aspirations of appearing in a James Bond film someday, perhaps as a hardened villain, and is available for film roles and TV castings. Not only this, but Joe is also a prominent after dinner speaker; entertaining countless audiences throughout the country with his anecdotes from his boxing career.
